We just concluded the NACM mid-year conference in Orange County, CA. It was a sold out conference and brought together individuals from all over the country to learn more about the power of strategic collaboration. There were so many excellent presentations including: Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye from CA who welcomed attendees to California and spoke about how we can all make a difference by collaborating and partnering with our communities; The Brain Science of Boosting Creativity, Collaboration, and Innovating Thinking by Marc Milstein which included many practical takeaways; Brent Gleeson who spoke about his experiences and leadership as a Navy SEAL that can translate into today’s business world; and many more. Many sessions were recorded and can be viewed on our website in the near future.
Our attention now turns to planning the annual conference in Atlanta, GA, July 22-26, 2018. The theme is Mind the Gap: The Power of Active Engagement. I hope you are planning to attend!
In other news, the NACM Communications Committee continues to work on updating the website. These changes should give the website a fresh look and feel and allow easier access to NACM materials and resources. Implementation is expected to occur early 2018. Keep watching for these exciting changes!
Finally, the call for NACM Board nominations has been posted. NACM always needs new energy, creativity, and diverse individuals on its Board of Directors. Considering nominating yourself or someone you know who wants to be an active participant in managing the association’s business. I hope you will consider becoming a leader in this association!
Best Wishes,
Vicky Carlson, President
